Are you interested in meeting new people on campus who enjoy playing video games as much as you? Join the club Gamers Guild!

Gamers Guild President Michael Perry says the club is for “gamers of all kinds to come together to learn from and experience new things with games as a focal point.”

The games they usually play range from Magic the Gathering, to Super Smash Brothers, to even NERF wars outside!

The weekly meetings start off with a themed educational segment which are then followed by the club announcements. Then members are free to play whichever game of their choosing. Since the club officers can only provide so many consoles and controllers, members are encouraged to bring their own games, consoles, and TVs to use. Ground rules are set in place to make sure nobody’s equipment gets damaged and everyone can enjoy themselves.

If you are interested in joining, you can attend their meetings from 6 pm – 11 pm on Monday nights in Solms Hall 108 and 110. The group is open to all students above 18.

If you like playing Dungeons and Dragons, the Gamers Guild also meets every Friday night at the same time and place to play with all those who are interested.

Club of the Week- Go Green Armstrong

Go Green Armstrong is the environmental club on campus. Their focus is to get students to be more mindful of their impact on the environment as well as help them learn new ways to reduce and reuse things.

Club officers President Maddi Foster and Vice President Melody Coleman told us, “we like providing a club where anyone can come and learn from other students on campus.”

The goal of Go Green Armstrong is to inform the community of ways to be more mindful of the environment.

They will be hosting a variety of events this semester for students to attend. They will host beach cleanups with Fight Dirty Tybee, participate in the Earth Day Festival on April 20 downtown, and Paraffin-Free Candle Making on Feb. 12. All of the materials for the candles will be natural and poured into recycled glass jars. If you would like to make your candle look nice, start saving some dried flowers and orange rinds.

If you are interested in joining the club or learning more about them, you can attend their meetings held at 6 pm every Tuesday in University Hall 102. You can also check out their Facebook page Go Green Armstrong or follow them on Instagram @gogreenarmstrong.

Featured Club of the Week – Anime Club

By: Madison Watkins, Editor-in-Chief

This semester, we are trying out a new profile series called Club of the Week! Each week we’ll have a brief profile about a club on campus that students can join.

This week’s profile is on the Anime Club!

Anime Club (also known as J-PAC- Japanese Pop Culture and Appreciation Club) is for students who are interested in discussing Asian culture, eating different but tasty foods, and of course, anime.

At the beginning of every semester, the club officers and members vote on the different shows they will be watching every week.

The club officers also provide free food and drinks at every meeting. Some of the food and drinks regularly provided are Korean teas, Oreos with eccentric flavor and rice with a variety of seasonings available.

Meetings usually consist of watching an episode of a show and then spending an hour discussing and learning about topics related to that show.

If you are interested in joining Anime Club, they regularly meet at 6 pm on Wednesday nights in University Hall 157.
